When our skin freaks out, we often reach for “correcting” products e.g. brightening, acne combating, etc., and they sometimes work to reign in the madness. More often than not, they temporarily improve the situation before another flare up rears its ugly head.
Next time when someone slides a moisturizing product across the table, don’t adopt the “Access Denied” attitude. Hydrated skin is the foundation to balanced, healthy skin - you’d be surprised how many people are walking around with “dry” skin.
For example, if you have oily skin, chances are your pores are producing extra oil (holy moly!) because it’s trying to moisturize the skin. Yep. You avoiding moisturizers is actually exacerbating your skin.
Even better, if you properly hydrate your skin, it will be more accepting of other “correcting” treatments like a syn-ake sheet mask or vitamin C serum.
Have we scared you into moisturizing, yet? Look, we’ll even help you get started with Mizon’s new M Line that focuses on… you guessed it: hydration!
Let’s start with the basics.
Cleansing flushes out all the impurities on your skin, but it also tends to strip your skin of some moisture - squeaky clean, indeed. That’s why it’s imperative to get your hands on a moisturizing toner.
We’ve been breaking into our stock of Intensive Skin Barrier Toner because it has both hyaluronic acid and ceramide - the bonafide power couple in skincare. Hyaluronic acid absorbs and retains major moisture while ceramide forms a protective barrier to prevent any moisture from evaporating.
After toner, try an essence or a serum or, crazy thought, both! The Water Volume Ex First Essence is full of snow algae extract to not only calm but also hydrate the skin. The Intensive Skin Barrier Serum is another great hydrating layer to add into your skin regimen because of it’s slick, lightweight texture that instantly absorbs into your skin.
Then, follow with your choice of moisturizer, whether that be a lightweight gel, snail cream, bee venom, pick your poison. But hurry, cause you’re going to want to get to the next step.
The new Intensive Skin Barrier Eye Roller is the answer to puffy eye bags and crinkly crow’s feet. Gently run the rollerball from one corner of your eye to the other. As it deposits essence on parched skin, it also stimulates pressure points to increase circulation and decrease the prominent look of eye bags. This rollerball has prime shelf space in our fridge/on our vanity for sure.
If you want to do some major rehab for your skin, reach for a wash off, like one of our Enjoy Fresh On Time Masks. For those of you who don’t like the feeling of clay masks drying and tugging, this is the solution. They nourish your skin with a thick jelly-like texture, and they smell ah-ma-zing. We love the Sweet Honey Mask because honey is such a great source of vitamins and moisture, especially for troubled skin.
Put aside your wash off masks on nights when you don’t want to walk all the way back to the sink. Instead, we have loads of sheet masks target a whole range of problems. Dull skin, red skin, dry skin, tired skin, we’ve got you covered (literally).
After a night’s sleep, you might still wake up groggy. That’s when you reach for a bowl and pop some Vita Lemon Sparkling Powder in - nothing like a little bubbly to get you going. The carbonation helps to coax out toxins while imparting a fresh glow.
Finally, we wouldn’t leave you bare faced with no makeup! We’ve been doing the easy-breezy thing by just swiping some lipstick, and we’re currently rotating through all the Correct Combo Lipstick shades. With the vivid color and matte finish, you would never guess that it’s as hydrating as a lip balm. Supple lips, here we come!
If you don’t hop on the hydration train after all this, we’ll seriously be bombarding your snapchat using the angry face filter.
