Korean spas attract both locals and visitors from all over the world because of their innovative treatments, from popular facial pilates done by estheticians to essences layered onto faces using a nanospray device to luxurious modeling masks applied after extensive facial massages.
As a NYC-based company with the mission of bringing the best of Korean beauty to the rest of the world, we regularly go beauty-hunting to these top Korean spas.
Here are two iconic spas we’re thrilled to introduce to you from our extensive beauty-hunting. The best part? You can use their incredible treatments right in the comfort of your own home.
SHANGPREE
First, we have Shangpree.
Many of you may have heard of Shangpree, given its legendary status in the spa/skincare world. There are a few surprising, little-known facts about them, including the fact that all their estheticians, regardless of years of experience, are trained for three years before they can touch a client’s face. Even veteran estheticians must be re-trained according to Shangpree’s impeccable standards, so it’s no surprise that Shangpree is consistently awarded the highest honors from the Korean government and is recognized as Korea’s top spa.
Shangpree innovates many treatments, but there is one that is particularly iconic: the Shangpree modeling mask.
A rubbery mask made of a specialized gel mixed with an active powder, this famed modeling mask is at once incredibly hydrating, soothing, nourishing, brightening, and firming, and it has immediate results. As soon as the mask is removed, there is a dramatic, visible difference to the client’s skin, making it an addictive treatment as skin looks so spectacularly radiant.
When Shangpree told us they’d finally be launching this mask for at-home use, as their exclusive distributor in the U.S., we knew we had to launch it on Peach & Lily. Not only would they be selling the mask, they would be releasing the exact formula they used in their spa, so people could have the same results at home as they did at Shangpree. This modeling mask has consistently been one of the most beloved products we carry, which doesn’t surprise us in the least.
SKIN LAB L
Next, we have Skin Lab L, Korea’s largest spa with over 500 estheticians across 50 locations.
When you go in for treatment, they scan and analyze your skin, determining your “age” according to different factors, like wrinkles and sun damage, then select the appropriate treatment to suit your individual needs. Skin Lab L’s Layering Essence Ringer Drip is one of their most popular treatments, with several variations to target different skin concerns from dryness to pigmentation to visible signs of aging, amongst others. Once they determine the appropriate one for you, they spray the the essence onto your skin with a nanospray, layering it on until the entire bag of essence has been sprayed and absorbed into your skin, flooding it with hydration.
That may sound like you have to go to a Skin Lab L location to reap the benefits of their treatments.
Fortunately, Skin Lab L released their Essence Drip for at-home use, and, just like Shangpree, they released the exact formulas they use in their spas. You can select from the different target issues in the same way estheticians at Skin Lab L would according to your skin needs, and have the same effects in the comfort of your home.
And, before you ask, the nanospray tool used at Skin Lab L spas isn’t necessary and doesn’t impact the efficacy of these treatments at all. The essences in the Layering Essence Ringer Drip are formulated with nanoparticles that sink deeply into your skin, whether you apply them with a spray or with your hands, patting the essence into your skin. You can use the entire bag like they do at Skin Lab L if you so wish, patting the essence on in layers until all the formula has been absorbed into your skin, or you can opt for a light layer and follow with the rest of your skincare routine.
BRINGING THE SPA HOME
Unlike other spas that might water down or alter the formulas they sell for at-home use, Shangpree and Skin Lab L both opted to release the same formulations they use in their spas. That means that you don’t have to fly all the way to Seoul or purchase extravagant, fancy tools to get the same benefits as the A-list clientele that swears loyalty to these spas — and to individual estheticians, who have developed their own cult followings.
Just like clients swear by Shangpree and Skin Lab L, returning loyally for treatments, you, too, might find yourself devoted to these products that you can pamper yourself with at home.
