We're delighted to introduce you to our newest brand: Kicho.
Kicho means “basic,” (기초) in Korean, and refers to a stripped-back, natural approach to skincare. This one word serves to illustrate the brand’s mission—they seek to strip products of unnecessary, and worse, harmful ingredients. These products don’t seek to thrill through never-before-seen ingredients, but rather stick to high-quality, proven, hypoallergenic ones, sourced from around the world. The brand is by no means new (just new to us). In fact, Kicho has been studying skin care for 50 years.
We all want our skincare products to work, but not at the risk of our safety. This is fundamental: the things we put on our skin should not only do good things for us, they should do those things safely. Harmful ingredients are simply not an option.
We’re not the only curators to take note of this amazing brand. Whole Foods actually selected Kicho when they introduced their customers to a very small selection of ultra-clean Korean Beauty. The beauty department at Whole Foods is known for the stringent standards they set for the products they carry. There are apparently more than 400 forbidden ingredients the retailer screens for before accepting a brand. Thus, it’s an honor to be sold at Whole Foods, and it’s a brand we're proud to share with the giant healthy grocery store.
We're so excited to introduce you to three special products from this wonderful line.
Kicho Sheep Oil Cream
This cream has quickly risen the ranks to become a team-wide favorite. It is light in that it is fast-absorbing but heavy enough to feel like a strong occlusive when used to conclude your nightly skincare ritual. In the colder months, we love this cream a.m. and p.m., but for summer, it makes a wonderful sleeping pack. Rich in Lanolin, the only animal oil obtained in an entirely cruelty-free manner, this moisturizer deeply hydrates the skin from the inside out and is entirely safe for sensitive skin. In fact, this cream has been a standby for Alicia when she battles eczema flare-ups to hydrate her skin without worrying about a reaction. However, lanolin isn’t the only ingredient that makes this a great formulation—it also contains a blend of 8 berries—rich sources of antioxidant Vitamin C, and anthocyanin. So, what does this mean? These natural ingredients work to brighten the skin, and fight hyperpigmentation and signs of aging.
It can take a long time to curate the products we want to introduce you to—we curate only the best we see coming out of Korea’s saturated beauty industry. This hero cream, which is currently ultra popular in Seoul, stands out in the crowded market!
“I have really dry skin. I put this moisturizer on before going to sleep at night, and when I wake up my skin is dewy, plump, and still super hydrated,” @choijeesoo says.
“I don’t know anything about skincare but my friends from Hot Choice who gifted this to me, do, and they gave it their highest recommendations, telling me this is the cream I need to use! It is better than my hempseed cream," @baby_bin47 says.
Kicho Sun Cream
This sunscreen makes wearing SPF enjoyable. Thanks to a delicate scent, which almost entirely disguises that telltale SPF smell and a lightweight, fast-absorbing texture, Kicho’s suncream feels much more hydrating daytime moisturizer (which happens to boast SPF 50) than most (aka, no more completing a lovely skincare ritual and then thinking, ‘oh yeah, I have to put on SPF’). Specially formulated for facial skin, this cream effectively protects the skin from UVA & UVB rays. It combines the properties of chemical sunscreen (octocrylene) and physical sunscreen (titanium dioxide).
In addition to sun protection, this cream contains Kicho’s proprietary soybean plant placenta which encourages skin rejuvenation and regeneration, antioxidants including green tea, gingko, wheat, soy, and allantoin which moisturizes. Finally, this product is smartly packaged in a convenient, and hygienic airtight pump, it’s easy to toss in your bag (and, at 1.69 fl. oz., also totally safe for your carry-on bag). This SPF is perfect for everyday use, and won’t disrupt your usual application of makeup.
Kicho Argan Oil Brush Wipes
When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brush? These patent-pending wipes represent not only a new product, but an entirely new category. Washing one’s makeup brushes is one of the dullest beauty chores ever, but these wipes make it utterly painless. Even better, they ensure a long lifespan for your precious makeup brushes (which we know can be quite the investment!) Dirty brushes put our skin at risk, so keeping them clean is truly a must. Argan oil, chock full of nutrients and omega-3 fatty acids, keeps brushes soft, serving as a conditioner for the bristles. The oil dissolves residue, oil, and dirt which collects on brushes, leaving your brushes soft and clean in no time.
